My Career History

I graduated from Lancaster University with a degree in French and English, and, after working in France and Germany, completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and taught in Further and Tertiary Education.  After moving to work in outdoor management development in Australia, I became an instructional designer and later a Senior Internal Consultant for the Management Development Group of Telstra (formerly Telecom Australia).

Since my return to the UK, I have worked with a number of consultancies, and with my own clients, on a wide variety of capability development projects across the private, public and voluntary sectors.  I have a Masters in Personal and Organisational Development from Middlesex University, and I am a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. I also have an ILM Level 7 Diploma in Leadership Mentoring and Executive Coaching. I am accredited in MBTI, Firo and Belbin, have attended some NLP training, and am an accredited teacher of the Enneagram.   My recent assignments include:

Running workshops to use the Enneagram to enhance team effectiveness, and for personal and life/spiritual development.  I also use the Enneagram and MBTI in my coaching work.

Coaching teams for business effectiveness – helping intact teams to improve their effectiveness through identifying the impact of behaviour on business results –  (higher education, telecomms and other private and third sector companies).

Talent management consultancy and capability development – role profiling talent requirements of strategic roles to meet organizational requirements, (wide variety of private sector organizations, UK, France)

Building organisational learning – Design and facilitation of leadership modules and workshops on Valuing Diversity, Building Effective Working Relationships, Strategic Partnering and Delegation (Higher Education and private sector).

Development centre observation and coaching – supporting leadership and career development – commissioned by NHS Leadership Development.

Building training/coaching capability – facilitating training modules and action learning sets, building participants’ ability to train others and to encourage a positive learning culture at work. (Care sector)

Change and project management – managing a 10 year project to design, develop and manage a 3 level accreditation process for a professional institute (Institute for Outdoor Learning, UK)
